After failing to complete Blind Spot Series 2015 and missing the whole challenge in 2016, Sinekdoks returns for Blind Spot Series 2017 hosted by Ryan McNeill of The Matinee. The idea is: picking 12 films to watch; one film each month for the course of a year. However, it is not merely a shame-list or to-watch list; there must be a sense of purpose to arrange the list.
As for 2017, I dedicate this year’s series as a homage to several Oscars’ Best Pictures I missed from the beyond the 2010s, which I can get the access to watch. I am gonna watch the films in reverse-chronological order to signify the flashback (except for two titles I cannot watch in backwards).
So, here’s my picks:
JANUARY: Chicago (2002) – Rob Marshall
FEBRUARY: The English Patient (1996) – Anthony Minghella
MARCH: Schindler’s List (1993) – Steven Spielberg
APRIL: Unforgiven (1992) – Clint Eastwood
MAY: Dances with Wolves (1990) – Kevin Costner
JUNE: Rain Man (1988) – Barry Levinson
JULY: Chariots of Fire (1981) – Hugh Hudson
AUGUST: The Godfather (1972) – Francis Ford Coppola
SEPTEMBER: The Godfather: Part 2 (1974) – Francis Ford Coppola
OCTOBER: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) – Miloš Forman
NOVEMBER: The Apartment (1960) – Billy Wilder
DECEMBER: Casablanca (1942) – Michael Curtis
That’s my Blind Spot list. You can watch it with me or you can participate in this series by yourself. Let’s tick the title together!
