Announcing The Blind Spot Series 2017 Participation

After failing to complete Blind Spot Series 2015 and missing the whole challenge in 2016, Sinekdoks returns for Blind Spot Series 2017 hosted by Ryan McNeill of The Matinee. The idea is: picking 12 films to watch; one film each month for the course of a year. However, it is not merely a shame-list or to-watch list; there must be a sense of purpose to arrange the list. As for 2017, I dedicate this year's series as a homage to several Oscars' Best Pictures I missed from the beyond the 2010s, which I can get the access to watch. I am gonna watch the films in reverse-chronological order to signify the flashback (except for two titles I cannot watch in backwards). (more…)

What the Hell …oween! #4: The Sacrament (2013)

Tepat di malam Halloween, terbitlah pula post terakhir dari serial What the Hell ...oween! A Collaborative Post persembahan sinekdoks dan hzboy a.k.a. So, let's check Hestia's take for this! (more…)

What the Hell …oween #3: We Are What We Are (2013)

Terlambat 3 hari dari deadline-nya, akhirnya post #3 dari serial What the Hell ...oween! A Collaborative Post dari Sinekdoks dan Hzboy a.k.a. Hestia Istiviani ini akhirnya naik juga. Setelah mengulas dua film yang baru saja tayang di bioskop (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children dan Blair Witch X The Blair Witch Project), di minggu ketiga ini, kami throw back ke beberapa tahun sebelumnya; kami mengulas We Are What We Are (2013), sebuah remake dari film Mexico berjudul sama. Filmnya sendiri sebenarnya cukup menimbulkan buzz bagi para horror aficionado pada tahun 2013, namun skalanya yang kecil membuatnya mudah tertumpuk film-film lain di daftar must-watch, hingga kini ia tergali lagi. Filmnya sendiri cukup misterius, lihat saja posternya or judulnya. So, let’s see Hestia’s take. ...

What the Hell… oween! #2: The Blair Witch Project X Blair Witch

Di serial What the Hell… oween! A Collaborative Post dari sinekdoks dan Hzboy a.k.a. So, untuk duo Blair Witch ini, berikut adalah take Hzboy: How Hzboy stumbles into those movies: My life completely changed since I moved here. Sekarang sudah nggak bisa lagi langsun...

What the Hell… oween! #1: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016)

So, here comes the first entry of Sinekdoks X Hzboy's What the Hell... oween! So, here's Hzboy'...

What the Hell… oween! A Collaborative Post

In anticipation of the coming Halloween, Sinekdoks is teaming up with Hestia Istiviani a.k.a. Hzboy (http://hestiaistiviani.com/) into making a collaboration post titled: What the Hell… oween! The idea is we are going to separately watch 4 films along October, one film per week, and respectively post a collaborative review on our own blog. The film picks are prearranged and we have decided a big theme for that: films about being away from society. Well, I guess those films should be horror, but let’s see. Reason is, Hesti is really an introvert lad; so I guess these films would give her a real bone-chiller. For me, I have a really bad sense of horror; so I guess I should be okay. The schedule of the films would be as follows: SUN Oct 9 – Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children SUN Oct...

BLOGATHON: Against the Crowd – Boo to ‘Trainwreck’, Yay to ‘Deep Rising’

Against the Crowd blogathon by Wendell of Dell on Movies returns for its third year. As for this year, he’s partnering with KG Movie Rants to host this annual blog event, where bloggers are asked to choose a movie we love that most people don’t and a movie we dislike that most people like. Here are some rules to follow. Pick one movie that “everyone” loves (the more iconic, the better). That movie must have a score of at least 75% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you hate it. Pick one movie that “everyone” hates (the more notorious, the better). That movie must have a score of less than 35% on rottentomatoes.com. Tell us why you love it. Include the tomato meter scores of both movies. Use one of the banners in this post, or feel free to create your own. (more…)

BLOGATHON: Against the Crowd – Boo to ‘Pitch Perfect’, Yay to ‘The Butterfly Effect’

Wendell of Dell on Movies brings about a new challenge in his latest (recurring) Against the Crowd Blogathon. In this very poignant blogathon, bloggers are invited to go against the crowd---complaining about movies that everyone loves but you hate and defending movies that everyone hates but you love. This is my first participation to this blogathon, so here's the shot. Wait! There are some rules to follow. (more…)

BLOGATHON: The Film Emotion

Inspired by Pixar's first hit in 2015, Inside Out; Connor of Conman at the Movies created a very fascinating blogathon, entitled: The Film Emotion. It's a very excellent blogathon 'cause it allows us to pick movies that basically match our emotions---like those depicted in Inside Out. The rule is simple: 1.) Pick five films to represent the five emotions in Inside Out. The criteria for choosing these films is listed below. I would be willing to allow a tie, if you couldn’t decide between two films to best represent one of the emotions. (more…)
